ETRURIO is developing sustainable agricultural production methods such as the recycling of raw materials that would otherwise go to waste and a feasibility study to recover Mediterranean Posidonia seaweed for use as mulch and fertilizer are on going.

The reintroduction of this ancient agricultural practice, now fallen into disuse, combined with modern technology, could turn what is currently seen as an annual beach cleaning burden and cost into a valuable resource. This will produce a valuable saving for local communities, whilst also reduce CO2 emissions thanks to reuse of Posidonia as a natural organic fertilizer.
